STRONG PROTEST AGAINS THE NATIONAL CONVENTION
December 08, 2005
..........................................................
Historically, Shans (Tai ) not only ruled
whole of present Burma 1298-1555 ( almost three centuries),
but also entered and populated the area long before the
first Burmese empire under Anawrahta ( 1044-1077).
Shan have an identifiable territory ( 65,000 sq mile ) and
a history of sovereignty, with a distinct common language
culture and tradition. Hence, the long overdue declaration
of federated Shan States Independence on 17th April 2005,
and have demonstrated a will to fight for it. Thisclearly
instill a trembling fear into the Burmese military dictatorship.
The pariah military dictatorship or evil empire or “out
post of tyranny” appropriately dubbed by the US has
become a laughing-stock in the eyes of the world community
not only for a prolonged N.C, a condition that eventually
got itself into the Guinness Blood of Records; but the emergency
shifting of its capital to a remote dry zone of Pyinmana,
which in itself is a death-trap. Depending too much on an
astrology or feng-shui does not help Khin Nyunt. Reports
filter out Burma that they are building underground bunkers,
in fact, a virtual graveyard.
The Nyaung Tha Bin conference is not a National convention
as the world sees it. It is rigged by the junta. The delegates
are under virtual house arrest. The SPDC is just a de facto
government, which shamelessly kidnapped the popular democracy
election results of 1990.
There is talk of a constitution drafting process will it
really be based firmly on democratic principle? In a democratic
nation, there should be a rule of law and a constitution
that guarantees basic human rights, including freedom of
worship, freedom of speech and expression and freedom of
association.
SLORC declaration number1/90 if 27 July 1990 states explicitly
that it is the duty of the elected representatives of the
people to draw up a constitution, not any Tom, Dick or Harry.
We have learnt that Shan leaders;-
1. Sao Sur
Hten
106 years.
Sent to Khamti Jail
2. Khun
Htoon Oo
92 years.
Sent to Putao jail
3
Sai Nyunt Lwin 50
years.
Sent to Kalemyo jail.
This is racial discrimination at its worst.
Another Burmese mentality! Su Kyi and Khin Nyunt are only
placed under house arrest. Shans should receive the same
treatment or release immediately. Other racial groups please
take note and launch immediate action.
We declare the N.C null and void
Zhao Siha,
Vice President.
